Sharp Edges Records Studio
STANDARD TERMS, CONDITIONS, and HOUSE RULES
This is a binding agreement between Sharp Edges Records (“SER” “us” or “we”) and the below-signed individual or company representing named Client (“Client” or “you”). By signing, Client understands and agrees to abide by the conditions and terms described herein:
GENERAL
We shall provide high-quality, professional-standard recording services.
We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone at any time.
Inappropriate behavior, including but not limited to sex or nudity, are NOT allowed in the studio or the building at any time.
Please respect our neighbors and keep the studio doors closed at all times.
NO ONE is allowed to touch or operate the studio gear except for the engineer.
NO smoking in the studio. However, vaping is permitted.
Alcohol is permitted, but please drink responsibly.
Food is allowed in the studio, but NO food or drinks are allowed on the studio desk or near the equipment. Drinks are allowed in the vocal booth as long as they can be fully closed in-between takes.
Please leave the studio how you left it. You will be charged a cleaning fee of $100 if any mess is left behind.
We do not have a parking lot available for the studio. Street parking is available on Lankershim Blvd (2-hour meter), as well as behind the studio on Vineland Pl (12-hour meter). There is limited street parking with no meter available on Huston St.
If you are not satisfied with any of these services, please let us know at the time, or contact us immediately with your concerns and we will do our best to make it right.
PAYMENT/ CANCELLATION
We have a 2-hour booking minimum.
Payment is required to schedule your session.
We require at least 48 hours of notice for any time changes or rescheduling. We will work to reschedule a new time that works for both you and the engineer and will apply your payment to the new session time and date, however, such rescheduled dates are subject to availability.
Cancellations also require at least 48 hours of notice. If you cancel the session within 48 hours, or if you don’t show up to your session, you will not receive a refund.
Billing for the session starts from the beginning of your scheduled session time, so please be on time.
If you arrive later than your scheduled session, you will be charged for any additional hours (offered only if available) outside of your scheduled time that must be paid by the end of your session.
Please consider your set-up/warm-up time and book your hours accordingly. This is part of your paid scheduled session time. This is especially important if you are bringing in session musicians. We recommend drum/string sessions be scheduled for a minimum of 4 hours.
If you book a session with a senior engineer, please allow a minimum of 30 minutes before the end of your scheduled session time for your engineer to create an end-of-day rough mix for you.
Payments MUST be caught up at the end of each visit if you exceed your session time. Scratches, rough mixes, audio or session files will not be released by us until payment is made in full.
In the event that studio time is covered by net payments, or longer payment terms, rates can increase at our discretion.
We accept Wire Transfers, Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, and cash. We also accept most credit and debit cards. For other payment methods, please contact us.
DELIVERY/PERMISSIONS
We will provide a working link for your files that will be active for 7 days after your scheduled session. It is your responsibility to download the files within that time. We will not be held responsible for storing your project beyond 7 days.
If your work is accidentally lost due to circumstances beyond our control within such time period, we will replace the work lost by crediting you back the cost of the studio time you used to create the project.
As the client, it is your responsibility to secure permission to use any copyrighted material in your project. We do not take any responsibility for any violation of copyright laws by you.
We keep your files private. We will not make them public without your permission.
ADDITIONAL SERVICES
Mixing, production, or any other creative services outside of recording is not included (except for a rough end-of-day mix by a senior engineer), and will be charged separately. Please contact us for rates as we would be happy to help!
Any engineers involved in the recordings created in the studio will need to be fully credited. If you have any questions on how to do so, please contact us.
SECURITY/ RESPONSIBILITY
You shall indemnify and hold harmless us and/or our parent company and/or affiliated companies from any and all liabilities, claims, damages, costs, expenses, and lawsuits, including those incurred as a result of the contributory negligence of us. You shall hold us harmless for any injuries sustained or incurred by any person, whether or not said person or persons is employed by you or us.
Any damages to the property and the studio’s equipment caused by recklessness or general carelessness will be at your expense. You will also be held financially responsible for anyone you bring into the studio.
You shall cover Loss of Income equal to the base rental rate of lost/damaged property or equipment multiplied by the number of days required to repair or replace lost/damaged item.
We are not responsible for articles left behind by you.
Sharp Edges Records recording studio cannot be held responsible for any external disturbances in the likes of construction, storms, public events, or anything outside of our control.
We have security cameras outside as well as in the studio that are recording 24/7. We will never share this footage or distribute it to anyone. This footage is exclusively used for internal security purposes and in the event of any accident, theft, or damages that may occur and will be used in court for evidence if needed.
Disrespect or harassment of any kind towards our engineers will not be tolerated. If you are asked to leave the studio by us or by the engineer, you must leave immediately, and you will NOT receive a refund.
We are committed to providing a safe and respectful workplace environment for all employees, contractors, clients and visitors. We strictly prohibit and form of sexual harassment or assault in the workplace.
Employees, contractors, clients and visitors are encouraged to report any incidences of sexual harassment or assault immediately. Reports will be treated with the utmost confidentiality, and individuals who make reports will not face retaliation.
RIGHTS
As between you and us, you shall have all right, title and interest, of whatsoever nature, in and to each and every piece of material produced pursuant to this Agreement, in any and all media, whether now known or hereafter developed, in perpetuity.
ASSUMPTION OF RISK
You acknowledge that use of the facility and/or equipment may require you or your employees, representatives, agents, contractors, and vendors to work in close proximity with one another for prolonged hours which may subject you and your personnel to health or safety risk (including, but not limited to, risk of contracting COVID-19).
You, on behalf of yourself and all your personnel, hereby voluntarily, knowingly, and fully accept and assume all health and safety risks associated with you and your personnel’s use of the equipment or facilities.
FORCE MAJEURE
To the extent that as a result of fire, accident, strike, labor condition, riot, war, act of God, act of public enemy, government order, failure of technical facilities or other cause of a similar or dissimilar nature beyond the control of you or us (each a “Force Majeure Event”), we are prevented from furnishing any facilities or equipment, or you are prevented from producing or completing the session as a result of any Force Majeure Event, the same shall not be a breach of this Agreement and neither party hereto shall have any obligation to the other with respect to this Agreement.
WARRANTIES
Both parties warrant and represent that they are free and clear to enter into and fully perform the obligations under this Agreement.
GOVERNING LAW
This Agreement shall be deemed to be executed and delivered in Los Angeles, CA and governed by the laws of the State of California.
